Honors and Awards

HONORS AND AWARDS

Students will be recognized for scholastic achievement beginning in the third grade. Criteria for receiving recognition of scholastic achievement are as follows:

Honors:         Student has an overall average of 90% or higher in major subjects

and no grade is below 85% (or satisfactory), including minor subjects.

Merit:              Student has an overall average of 85% or higher in major subjects and no grade is below 80% (or satisfactory), including minor subjects.

Additionally, no grades of “Needs Improvement” (N) are permitted.

Major subjects:        reading, math, social studies, science, English, and religion

Minor subjects:        music, physical education, art, health, handwriting, and spelling

A student with an attendance record of no absences for the year will receive the Perfect Attendance Award.
